WATER BLOCKING FIBERGLASS TAPE
Water Blocking Fiberglass Tape
Water Blocking Fiberglass Tape is a tape made of non-woven fiberglass reinforced with superabsorbent polymers (SAP). It is designed to provide water blocking and mechanical protection for electrical and fiber optic cables, especially in applications where high resistance to moisture and adverse environmental conditions is required.
Application
Longitudinal or helical application during cable manufacturing. It is installed between internal layers of the cable, usually around the core or fiber optic tubes. It can be used as a reinforcement layer or as a primary moisture barrier.
Range of products
Standard Thickness: 0.30 mm.
Optional Thicknesses: 0.20 mm – 0.25 mm – 0.40 mm – 0.50 mm (available upon request).
Soft Super Absorbing Fiber (SAF™) is the key component in Water Blocking Swellable SAF™ Soft Yarns, which are usually blended with other synthetic fibers such as polyester, nylon, to add strength or additional functionality.
The SAF™ content does not shed when the yarns are being cut and spliced for use. Water Blocking Swellable SAF™ Soft Yarns protect power, telecommunication and special cables by rapidly absorbing water at the point of damage. Upon contact with water, the yarn will swell and form an impermeable barrier.
Key benefits
- Superior water blocking.
- High thermal stability.
- Mechanical strength.
- Lightweight & flexible.
- Long-term reliability.
